Bernard Lee Finished in the Money

last night, but then gave it away. Nine names at the table — we have only their online identities, so you’ll excuse us if this begins to sound like a superhero convention — and three walked away with a bit of the pot.

Finishing in the money

We’re proud of our listeners, who gave Bernard a run for it last night. He was playing short-stacked (this is poker for “with very little money”) for about fifteen minutes, but it turns out that short-stacked is Lee’s specialty. He dug himself back out to a final hand with only borty left at the table.

Borty ended up with a run of diamonds. Lee had two jacks. This, evidently, is how you beat the man who finished thirteenth in the World Series of Poker, the one they call “The Main Event” or “The Big Dance.” In our tournament, which we like to call “The Sideshow” or “The Little Two-Step,” we played for bragging rights and $100 dollars in prize money, for which we have PokerStars.com to thank.

Lee is blogging this week about his trip to the Big Dance. What he won’t tell you in his blog is that he gave his second-place pot — $30 — to the third- and fourth-place finishers, both Open Source listeners. A small amount. A nice gesture. A good guy.

Thanks, everyone.
