Great show so far!
What do you guys think of Apple Computer’s entry into podcasting in less than 60 days?
You can’t keep good people down Mary, thats what I am hearing out of my radio tonight!
great show! well done! looking forward to the rest.
will these be podcast too? I recorded it, but missed the first 20 mins or so. cheers! K.
Heard this show this afternoon – curious about the down side of assembling one’s own narrative of news. Seems to me to have the same dangers of personalizing a deity: pretty soon, your god starts to take your shape instead of the other way around. Isn’t it possible that having no mediator at all can also lead to lack of of discourse with opinions and new sources …the opposite of information overload…?
Guys,
Great show tonight. Only caught 5 minutes of it thought, so here is my question:
Where is the Rss2 with enclosures feed for me to get the podcast version of the show?
Keep it up.
antonio
Hello everyone
Great show. Great topic — one that’s endless. Doc Searls is a visionary. It is great to hear Chris back on the FM and now the Internet stream. The restoration of a great institution in our great city.
I will venture to guess that Camille Paglia will soon be on Open Source. Can we have a prediction market on this?
Best of luck to the new enterprise — podcasting and all. (Sorry to say I don’t know what podcasting is all about but a primer is in oder on O/S!)
And remember this, I never tuned into the Vichy Connection all these years.

To answer the podcast questions: yes, an mp3 of the show will be up on the site tonight/tomorrow morning-ish. We’ll get much faster at this soon!
Oh man, I’m so happy this show is finally happning.
A handy web calculator tells me that it’s been 4 years, 3 months, 15 days, or 1,565 days since the last live broadcast of The Connection with Christopher Lydon on February 15, 2001. Here’s the link to that archived show:
http://www.theconnection.org/shows/2001/02/20010215_b_main.asp
I’m sorry I missed the show today…will definitely listen in for the next show. I miss Christopher Lydon on The Connection, when I lived in Boston.
Thanks for coming back, and thanks for bringing Open Source (something dear to my heart) to radio! Rock on!

I notice that “christopherlydon [DOT] org” redirects to this site now. I am wondering if the archives of those shows will be made available again?
We will make all of the christopherlydon org archives available; if you’re new to this — and I am — it’s both amazing and reassuring to discover the community that existed around the old Connection. Anyway, short answer: we haven’t abandoned the old site, the redirect was just a quick-and-dirty way to let people know about the new program.
Hey guys, a request for the 1.0 version of the blog: *threaded comments!*
Congratulations on returning from the “wilderness.” It was very good to hear Mr. Lydon’s voice on my radio again. Looking forward to many more interesting shows and, perhaps, participating too.
Brendan, that is good to know. Thanks. (Lately, I have been wanting to listen again to the interview with Anne Wroe on her book about Pontius Pilate.)
I am an old devoted listener and fan of Chris and crew since “The Ten O’Clock News” [TV] and “The Connection” [radio].
Reassuring, yes! It felt really strange to go seeking for the old web site last night and find it “vanished.” “…the capacity to erase….” is one virutal hazard I keep in mind. [a reference to an old editorial written by Ellen Goodman] I immediately went to “Wayback” just for comfort of a sort.
Even though I love internet radio, I take huge comfort in being able to receive the shows over the air with my radio with my trusty antenna in central NH.
Thanks! I really appreciate the work.
good luck mom
Jake – Many thanks for the date of the last of the original “The Connection” shows. WBUR describes that show, and the preceding ones on their archives page:
http://www.theconnection.org/shows/
as being hosted by Dick Gordon, not Chris Lydon. The archives on that page go back to 2000 if I remember correctly. Anyone out there know how to get at the shows from the last century? Thanks again.
Great to see you back Chris. Haven’t googled you in a year and just saw this.
The radio show unlike any other radio show I have ever heard is back–
To feed a nation starving for the intellectual jazzman Lydon with the kind of passionate-musical-mind-opening-paradigm-shattering-trancendent-soul-synthesizing-conciousness-birthing conversations that I have never heard anywhere else, before or since.
Thank God and also thank you Chris and staff (and thank you WGBH).
