Well, this is more of a suggestion for a specific show than for the overall theme. STATISTICS. D’Israeli’s comment that there are “Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics” only seems true, because so many of us are so damn ignorant–myself included–of statistics.
If you could get some really charismatic statistician on to provide an overview of the subject and then provide links for autodidacts who want to teach themselves more. Maybe there aren’t any charismatic statisticians, but you managed to do a whole show about math once, and it was great.
If part of being open source means empowering your audience to separate the wheat from the chaff, then a basic measure of numeracy would help a lot.
