Excellent interview and rap on Pakistan by Ashraf. Will have to listen to a section again to try to understand the divisions within. Thanks.

It was very thrilling to see that picture in the NYTimes ( front page) of a Pakistani lawyer in his suit on on the street throwing something at the police/military as they cracked down on the protest.

It says up above “In opinion polls of all Pakistan, it is reported that Osama bin Laden is now more popular than Musharraf”.

I would like to know if anyone reading this thread supports Osama bin Laden. What do you think about his popularity in Pakistan? Would you support him as president there?

many (female) Pakistani nationals attended my art school..their stories from the homeland were not encouraging and i was left with the impression that many of them would not be returning home. one woman's family refused to pay protection money to a gang..she had to hide in the US as a result and could only communicate with Pakistan via a relative in the states...bodyguards, armed motorcades, banishment ...sounded nasty.

in know that this is only anecdotal, so what is the state of life in Pakistan?

There is a huge amount of hidden spam at the bottom of this article. (It's really obvious if you're using an RSS reader, not in the browser tho.) "View Source" to see it.
