One of the many interesting islands I've learned about through Patrick O'Brian's 20 Aubrey-Maturin books over the last two years. Nothing beats a visit to an island that most people have never heard of. I'm still riding high on my 2004 visit to Mauritius - would love an excuse to go back - but Tristan definitely takes the cake. That, and St. Helena, maybe. And let's not forget Diego Garcia.... Ah, indeed. It was once a question on a test in a ploitcal georaphy course by professor Van Valkenber of Clark University. Its settlers were sent to England during WWII but could not adapted to England(their families having left in the 17th Century.)
