I am sucked into your series on India, fascinated and feeling like Ruth a bit ( wither thou goest)..... trying to imagine what a $100,000,000 house looks like... and how it is possible to live in one with poverty underneath one's nose "unchecked by conscience". Does this qualify as the necessary tolerance that we speak of? I have no doubt that Indians can "do us" better than we do ourselves but that is a frightening thought. The world to come suddenly seems a little bit more frightening.

Thank you Chris for bringing these latter day Desi prophets, Amitav Ghosh first and now, Rana Dasgupta who have the nerve and the balls to point their pens at the seamy underbelly of INCREDIBLE INDIA Inc. to speak on Radio Open Source and to speak candidly about their worries and concerns about the unthinking hype around INDIA RISING. It is terrifying and true that many in middleclass consumer India do actually think that Lee Kuan Yew is even a plausible model for anything but a selling of a nation's soul in exchange for a certain amount of repetitious infrastructure. Unlike your guest, I am not sure that India's much vaunted chaos will preserve the center of the spirituality bequeathed by Gandhi, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Radhakrishnan to a young country that is even as we speak, impatient for the lifestyles of Wellesley and Skokie.

Gratefully,
George Mathew

Dear Oguz: Problem solved, at least addressed. Near the bottom of the left-hand column, you should now find the RSS Podcast button, in orange and gray. Let me know if it works -- or doesn't. Thanks for provoking us! Chris Lydon

Hi Chris,

I have been a fan of your show since 2006, and I appreciate the variety of opinions and guests that you have on the program. I have one (potentially off-topic) request: Please bring back direct links to the MP3s on your podcasts! Call me a luddite, but there's nothing that feels more "Open Source" than real mp3s that you can download, sort, and transfer to various devices, etc. without the restriction of any additional software.

Regards,

Oguz
