What becomes quite clear in this interview and in Henri Cole's recitation of poems is that he IS a grand man of letters. The man and his poetry are precise, passionate and tender. Cole continues to be ablaze.

Happy coincidence for me as I'm reading Henri Cole at the moment. Grim business, mostly. One shies away, turns back. Much lovely stuff.

I've always assumed I would never judge a poet by their reading alone...but Henri's reading actually made me appreciate his poetry more...his authenticity bloomed ever more so with his reading...no matter his plentiful content.

"You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late." - I can imagine Henri saying...
